There is no “best age” for a facelift. Truthfully, it's more about when you begin to see signs of aging that make you feel or look older than you are, or if you are unhappy with the way you look.
You must be in general good physical health. It is recommended that you not smoke, use drugs, or drink excessively. You should not be significantly overweight.
If you see sagging, wrinkles or a loss of volume in the soft tissues of your face and neck, you may be a good candidate. This may look like jowels, marionette lines, loose skin, or a double chin.
It depends on your facelift goals and concerns. If you have had a prior facelift, your surgeon will recommend one of the secondary facelift options. If you have never had a facelift before, your surgeon will provide personalized guidance based on where you show the most significant signs of descension or sagging, as well as what best suits your face and bone structure.
Plan to take at least 1-2 weeks off from work to recover from a facelift. After this time most external signs of surgery should fade, and you will feel more comfortable in public settings. Complete healing from a facelift may take up to a year, but most patients are greatly healed 4-6 weeks after the surgery.

A facelift can turn back the clock on aging, making you appear 10-15 years younger. The effects will last, on average, 10-15 years. A secondary facelift can be completed, if needed, down the road a decade or so. It is not uncommon for a patient to have two facelifts in their lifetime.
A non-surgical procedure may be an alternative to surgery for younger patients. Injectables and other treatments may be able to replicate the effects of the facelift while avoiding the need for surgery. These treatments typically have more subtle transformational effects than surgery, and the results will not last as long as surgery, but they are a good alternative during the early stages of facial aging.
